Information of interest

Many pilgrims come to our rural house with questions about the Camino de Santiago. In this section we have put together the most frequent ones, so that you can consult them whenever you want.

1The Pilgrim's Credential and the Compostela

The Pilgrim's Credential is a document similar to a passport that must be stamped at each stage of the Camino. You can get it at the Pilgrim's Office, in brotherhoods and associations and in hostels or parishes.

The Compostela is the document that certifies that the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela has been successfully completed.

2Safety during the Camino

The Road Safety Commission of the Camino de Santiago is the entity that guarantees that everything runs normally on the nine routes that lead to Santiago de Compostela. It was created by the Xunta de Galicia, the Galician Provincial Councils and the Government of Spain in 2015.

In addition to this organism, members of the Civil Guard, Local and National Police are in charge of ensuring security, and are helped by the Civil Guard Cavalry Unit in summer.

The General Directorate of Emergencies and Interior in collaboration with the Public Foundation Health Emergencies of Galicia-061 has prepared a guide of advice with self-protection measures that it is advisable to comply with.

3The Camino APP

It is a mobile application that you can download for free through the IOS or Android application store. Available in 3 languages, Galician, Spanish and English, it provides useful information in real time about guides, official routes of the Camino, hostels, events, restaurants, accommodation, leisure, offers, weather, health centers, emergencies and even has augmented reality which makes it possible to see all the highlights that are closest to your location. Furthermore, within the My Diary section, you can write down your comments about the Camino and in My Experience tell your impressions.

And all this without needing mobile coverage!

4International Pilgrim Welcome Center
It emerged as a collaboration agreement between Tourism of Galicia and the Cathedral Foundation. It is located upon arriving in Santiago de Compostela, next to Praza do Obradoiro. Specifically on Carretas Street, nº 33. When you complete the Camino, in this place you can access all the services linked to it: Pilgrim's Office, chapel, library, information points, rooms for jacobean associations and a documentation center.
